Frederick Henry Albert of Prussia

Frederick Henry Albert of Prussia, also known as Prince Henry, was born on August 14, 1862, in Potsdam, Germany. He was the son of Prince Albert of Prussia and Princess Marianne of the Netherlands. Prince Henry joined the Prussian army at a young age, and he was later named the commander of the German navy in 1890. He was responsible for modernizing and expanding Germany's naval fleet. In 1900, Prince Henry married Irene of Hesse and by Rhine, with whom he had seven children. He was known for his philanthropic work and was a patron of the arts. He was a supporter of Wagner's music and sponsored the Bayreuth Festival. During World War I, Prince Henry continued to serve in the navy, but his influence was limited due to the strained relationship between his brother, Kaiser Wilhelm II, and the navy's leadership. After the war, Prince Henry retired from public life and focused on his philanthropic work. He died on April 20, 1929, in Hemmelmark, Germany, at the age of 66.
