Henry Thynne, 6th Marquess of Bath

Henry Thynne, 6th Marquess of Bath, was born on January 26, 1905, in London, England. He was the son of Thomas Henry Thynne, 5th Marquess of Bath and Violet Mordaunt. He was educated at Eton College and Christ Church, Oxford. In 1926, Henry Thynne inherited the title of Marquess of Bath from his father. He was also known for his interest in politics and served as a member of Parliament for Frome from 1931 to 1935. During World War II, he served in the British Army and was wounded in action. He was awarded the Military Cross for his bravery. In addition to his military and political career, Henry Thynne was also a keen artist and writer. He wrote several books on his family's history and the history of Longleat House, their ancestral home in Wiltshire. Henry Thynne was married twice, first to Daphne Fielding in 1935, with whom he had two children before their divorce in 1953. He then married Virginia Penelope Parsons in 1953, with whom he had two more children. Henry Thynne died on June 30, 1992, at the age of 87. He was succeeded by his eldest son, Alexander Thynn, 7th Marquess of Bath.
