John Singleton (Australian entrepreneur)

John Singleton was an Australian entrepreneur who was born on February 9, 1931, in Sydney, Australia. He was a prominent figure in the Australian advertising industry in the 1970s and 1980s and created the advertising agency Singleton Ogilvy & Mather in the mid-1980s.

Singleton started his career in advertising in the 1960s as a copywriter for the advertising agency McCann Erickson. In 1976, he left the agency to start his own company, Singleton Advertising. The company quickly became successful, and Singleton used his advertising skills to help build iconic Australian brands such as Yellow Pages, Optus, and Qantas.

In 1984, Singleton merged his company with Ogilvy & Mather, becoming Singleton Ogilvy & Mather. The company became the largest advertising agency in Australia, and Singleton became one of the wealthiest men in the country.

In addition to his advertising career, Singleton was also known for his involvement in horse racing, owning and breeding thoroughbreds. He was a prominent figure in the Australian racing community and was inducted into the Australian Racing Hall of Fame in 2018.

Singleton passed away on March 7, 2018, at the age of 87. He is remembered for his contribution to the advertising industry and his passion for horse racing.
