Josias, Hereditary Prince of Waldeck and Pyrmont

Josias, Hereditary Prince of Waldeck and Pyrmont was born on May 13, 1896 in Arolsen, Germany to Prince Friedrich of Waldeck and Pyrmont and Princess Bathildis of Schaumburg-Lippe. He grew up in a family with a long tradition of military service, and he himself joined the German Army in 1914 during World War I. After the war, Josias pursued a career in forestry and agriculture before becoming the head of the Waldeck and Pyrmont family upon his father's death in 1941. During World War II, he served as a general in the German Army and was known for his exceptional tactics and bravery. After the war, Josias was imprisoned for his involvement in Nazi war crimes. He was eventually released due to poor health, and spent the rest of his life living in seclusion on his estate in Bavaria. Josias died on November 30, 1967 at the age of 71. Despite his controversial past, he was widely respected for his military prowess and dedication to his family's legacy.
