Prince Aimone, Duke of Apulia

Prince Aimone, Duke of Apulia was born on 13 October 1967 in Florence, Italy. He is the son of Prince Amedeo of Savoy, Duke of Aosta and Princess Claude of Orléans. Prince Aimone is the grandson of King Umberto II of Italy and his wife, Queen Marie-José. In 2003, Prince Aimone married Princess Olga of Greece and Denmark, daughter of Prince Michael of Greece and Denmark and his wife, Marina Karella. The couple has two children, Princess Maria Annunciata and Princess Bianca Maria. Prince Aimone served in the Italian Navy and later worked in the banking industry. He is involved in various charitable and cultural organizations, including as President of the Italian National Heritage Trust. In 2006, Prince Aimone was appointed by the President of the Italian Republic as Head of the House of Savoy, a role he held until 2020. However, he chose not to claim the titles or privileges associated with the position. In 2021, Prince Aimone was chosen by a group of supporters to succeed his late cousin, Vittorio Emanuele, as head of the House of Savoy. However, his claim to the title is disputed by some members of the Savoy family.
