Prince Albert of Prussia was born in 1809 in Königsberg, Prussia. He was the seventh son of King Frederick William III and Queen Louise. Albert received a military education and fought in the Prussian army during the revolutions of 1848.
In 1836, Albert married Princess Marianne of the Netherlands, with whom he had five children. However, the couple's marriage was unhappy, and they separated in 1844.
In 1853, Albert was appointed governor of the Province of Prussia and played an important role in the development of the region. He was also active in promoting educational reform and modernizing the army.
During the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-1871, Albert sat on the Prussian War Council and advised his nephew, King Wilhelm I. He died in 1872 in Berlin and was buried in the mausoleum at Charlottenburg Palace.
