Prince Frederick Adolf of Sweden
Prince Frederick Adolf of Sweden (1750-1803) was the youngest son of King Adolf Frederick and Queen Louisa Ulrika of Sweden. He joined the Swedish army at a young age and quickly rose through the ranks, becoming a major general at age 23. In 1774, he married Princess Augusta of Great Britain, granddaughter of King George II, and the couple had six children. Prince Frederick was known for his military achievements, including leading several successful campaigns against Russia during the Russo-Swedish War. Despite his successes on the battlefield, Prince Frederick was unpopular among the Swedish nobility due to his rough manners and lack of interest in court life. He spent much of his time at his country estate, where he pursued his passion for hunting and breeding horses. Prince Frederick died in 1803 at the age of 52, leaving behind a reputation as a skilled but unconventional military leader.
