Prince Sigvard Bernadotte
Prince Sigvard Bernadotte was born on June 7, 1907, in Stockholm, Sweden. He was the second son of Crown Prince Gustav Adolf and Princess Margaret of Sweden. In 1934, he married Erica Patzek, with whom he had a daughter, Christina. However, the couple divorced in 1943, and Prince Sigvard later remarried Marianne Lindberg Tchang, with whom he had two more children, Michael and Madeleine. Prince Sigvard studied architecture and design in Paris, France, and became a successful graphic and industrial designer. He worked for several companies and collaborated with renowned firms such as Georg Jensen and Svenskt Tenn. He also designed furniture and interiors for the Swedish Royal Family, including the Palace of Stockholm and the Royal Palace of Drottningholm. In 1932, Prince Sigvard was granted the title of Duke of Upland by his grandfather, King Gustav V. However, in 1934, he was stripped of his title and removed from the line of succession after marrying a commoner without the king's consent. After World War II, Prince Sigvard moved to Switzerland and continued his design career. He became a Swiss citizen and was later allowed to return to Sweden. He died on February 4, 2002, at the age of 94.
