Princess Astrid Sophie Louise Bernadotte of Sweden

Princess Astrid Sophie Louise Bernadotte of Sweden was born on February 5, 1935, as the second child of Prince Carl Bernadotte and Princess Ingeborg of Denmark. She was the granddaughter of King Gustaf VI Adolf of Sweden and the niece of King Frederik IX of Denmark. In 1955, she married Johan Martin Ferner, a Norwegian businessman, and Olympic sailor. They had five children: Cathrine, Benedikte, Alexander, Elisabeth, and Carl Christian. Princess Astrid was an accomplished equestrian and competed in the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome as part of the Norwegian team. She was also a patron of several organizations and charities, including the Norwegian Cancer Society, the Norwegian Red Cross, and the Norwegian Association for the Blind. She passed away on January 29, 2021, at the age of 85.
