Princess Ida of Schaumburg-Lippe was born on September 28, 1944, in Bückeburg, Germany. She was the daughter of Prince Wolrad of Schaumburg-Lippe and Princess Elfriede of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. In 1963, Princess Ida married Count Carl-Heinz von Finkenstein and had two children, a son, and a daughter.

Princess Ida was an active supporter of various charities and organizations, including animal welfare groups, the Red Cross, and the German Cancer Aid. She was also an accomplished artist and had several exhibitions of her work in Germany and Austria.

In 1970, Princess Ida inherited Schloss Bückeburg, the family's historic castle, and worked to restore and preserve it. She also established a museum on the castle grounds that showcases the history and culture of Schaumburg-Lippe.

Princess Ida died on March 15, 2016, at the age of 71. She was remembered for her passion for the arts, her dedication to philanthropic causes, and her commitment to preserving her family's heritage.
