Princess Maria Theresa of Savoy

Princess Maria Theresa of Savoy was born in Turin, Italy in 1756 as the daughter of King Victor Amadeus III of Sardinia and Queen Maria Antonia Ferdinanda of Spain. She married King Charles X of France in 1773, becoming queen consort. The couple had no children and were eventually forced to flee France during the French Revolution in 1789. They spent the rest of their lives in exile, primarily in Austria. Princess Maria Theresa was known for her piety and charitable works and died in Vienna in 1805. She is buried alongside her husband in the church of Saint Sophia in Kostanjevica, Slovenia.
