Princess Marie Alexandra of Baden

Princess Marie Alexandra of Baden was born on August 1, 1902, in Karlsruhe, Germany. She was the daughter of Grand Duke Friedrich II of Baden and Princess Hilda of Luxembourg. Marie Alexandra had a privileged upbringing and received a good education. She was fluent in several languages and had a passion for the arts, particularly music and painting. In 1924, Marie Alexandra married Prince Wolfgang of Hesse, but the couple divorced in 1930. They had two daughters together: Princess Christoph of Hesse and Princess Dorothea of Hesse. During World War II, Marie Alexandra served as a nurse, providing aid to wounded soldiers. After the war, she moved to Switzerland and became active in various philanthropic organizations. Marie Alexandra died on January 29, 1944, at the age of 41, in Basel, Switzerland. She is remembered as a kind and generous person who dedicated her life to helping others.
