Princess Milica of Montenegro

Princess Milica of Montenegro (1866-1951) was a member of the royal family of Montenegro. She was the daughter of Prince Nikola I Petrović-Njegoš and his wife, Milena Vukotić. Milica was educated in Paris and was known for her beauty and intelligence. In 1889, Milica married Grand Duke Peter Nicolaievich of Russia, a grandson of Tsar Nicholas I. The couple had two children, Prince Roman and Princess Elena. Milica was a beloved member of the Russian imperial court and was known for her philanthropic and cultural pursuits. After the Russian Revolution of 1917, Milica and her family were forced to flee Russia and eventually settled in exile in France. Milica continued to be active in cultural and philanthropic causes and was well-respected in European society. Milica died in Cannes, France in 1951 at the age of 84. She was buried in the Russian Orthodox cemetery in Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois, France.
