Princess Sophie of Greece and Denmark was born on June 26, 1938, in Psychiko, Athens, Greece as the second child of King Paul of Greece and his wife, Queen Frederica. She had an older sister, Princess Irene, and two younger brothers, King Constantine II and Prince Andrew. Sophie grew up in Greece until she was forced to flee the country with her family following a coup in 1967. She then settled in London, where she married Prince Juan Carlos of Spain in 1962. The couple has three children, Princess Elena, Infanta Cristina, and Felipe VI, who would later become the King of Spain. Sophie was known for her philanthropic work and involvement in various charities, including Save the Children and the Red Cross. She also held several honorary positions, such as President of the Spanish Association Against Cancer and President of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. Sophie passed away on November 3, 2007, at the age of 69 in Madrid, Spain, after a long battle with cancer. She was loved and admired for her warmth, intelligence, and kindness, and her legacy continues to inspire people around the world.
