Queen Paola
Queen Paola of Belgium was born on September 11, 1937, in Forte dei Marmi, Italy. She was the youngest of seven children, born to an Italian aristocratic family. In 1958, she married Prince Albert of Belgium, and they had three children together. Throughout her life, Queen Paola was involved in many charitable and cultural causes, particularly focused on children's and women's issues. She also served as the Honorary President of the King Baudouin Foundation and the Prince Albert Fund. In 2013, Queen Paola suffered from a stroke but recovered well. In 2019, she retired from public life with her husband, King Albert II, who abdicated the Belgian throne to their son, King Philippe.
