Anatoly Nikolaievich Demidov, 1st Prince of San Donato

Anatoly Nikolaievich Demidov was a Russian prince and aristocrat born in 1813. He was a member of the wealthy Demidov family, which owned and operated a successful iron and metal businesses in Russia. Anatoly was educated in Russia and Germany, where he studied natural sciences, history, and languages. He became known for his philanthropic work, donating large sums of money to hospitals, schools, and other charitable organizations. In 1855, Anatoly was appointed the governor of the Province of Tver in Russia, where he implemented many reforms and improvements including the establishment of schools and hospitals. He also served as a senator in the Russian parliament and was awarded the Order of Saint Andrew for his service. Anatoly's life took a tragic turn when his wife, Princess Mathilde Bonaparte, died in 1904. He became increasingly reclusive and withdrew from public life. Anatoly died in 1870 at the age of 57, leaving behind a legacy of philanthropy and public service.
