King Willem-Alexander
King Willem-Alexander was born in Utrecht, Netherlands, in 1967. He is the eldest son of Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands and her late husband, Prince Claus. In 1983, he received his secondary education at Eikenbosch High School in Vught. In 1987, he enrolled in Leiden University, where he earned a degree in History. After graduation, he spent some time studying at the European School of Law in Amsterdam. In 1991, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Royal Netherlands Navy. He trained as a helicopter pilot and served on frigates and patrol boats in the Dutch Navy. In 1999, he married Argentine investment banker Máxima Zorreguieta Cerruti. They have three daughters, Princess Catharina-Amalia, Princess Alexia, and Princess Ariane. In 2013, after Queen Beatrix abdicated, King Willem-Alexander succeeded her as the monarch of the Netherlands. He is known for his interest in water management, sports, and the environment. In his role as King, he participates in state visits, conducts ceremonies, delivers speeches, and meets with various Dutch officials and foreign dignitaries. He is also a patron of many charitable organizations and causes.
